Books for BC Babies
Books for Babies is a provincial initiative led by the IslandLink Library Federation that provides board books, book bags and CDs to participating libraries across BC to give to families in their communities.
Through Books for BC Babies, libraries promote early literacy and brain development by giving parents and caregivers of newborns books and music to share together.

Library Participation
All public libraries in BC are welcome to join the Books for BC Babies purchase.
A call for participation is typically sent to libraries in January. Libraries who wish to participate provide their information and orders via web form. Materials are shipped to you through your library federation in Spring and Summer.
Cost
Participating libraries may order as many books, bags, or CDs as they wish. Costs per item vary each year. In 2026, approximate costs without shipping and taxes are:
- Book – $4.76 each
- CD with download code – $8.00 each
- Downloadable music only – $4.00 each
- Book Bag – $2.20 each
More information
A new title and CD are selected each year by Island Link. 2026’s titles are You Hold Me Up, by Monique Gray Smith, and My Best Friends, by Will’s Jams and Friends.
To participate, libraries should submit their orders via web form by February 13, 2026.
