Governance
A collaboration of 18 autonomous public libraries, InterLINK operates as a Library Federation according to the Library Act of British Columbia and is governed by a library board.

The Board is composed of one representative from each of the eighteen member library boards. Members are appointed for one-year terms by their own library boards and may be reappointed for up to eight terms.
The InterLINK Board meets on alternate months and approximately five times a year.

Standing Committees
The InterLINK Board has three permanent committees: Finance, Governance and Planning, and Executive committees.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee is composed of three Board members and an advisor from the Administrators’ Advisory Group (AAG), as well as the InterLINK Executive Director and InterLINK Manager of Operations.
The InterLINK Treasurer chairs the Finance Committee. The InterLINK Board Chair is an ex-officio member.
The Finance Committee is responsible for budget preparation for Board consideration and approval, and the initial monitoring of financial statements.
Governance and Planning Committee
The Governance and Planning Committee is composed of three Board members and an advisor from the Administrators’ Advisory Group (AAG) advisors, as well as the InterLINK Executive Director and the InterLINK Manager of Operations.
The InterLINK Board Vice-Chair is chair of the Governance and Planning Committee. The InterLINK Board Chair is an ex-officio member.
The Governance and Planning Committee is responsible for drafting annual goals and objectives and for reporting on progress to the Board on a regular basis.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is composed of three Board members: the Board Chair, Vice-Chair, and Treasurer.
The Board Chair is chair of the Executive Committee.
The Executive Committee is responsible for reviewing Board meeting agendas and providing guidance to the Executive Director regarding issues coming before the Board. Decisions of the Executive Committee must be ratified by the full Board. The Executive Committee is also responsible for ensuring there is an annual evaluation of the Executive Director.
Administrators’ Advisory Group
The Administrators’ Advisory Group (AAG) consists of the Administrator appointed by each member library, typically the library director or CEO, as well as the InterLINK Executive Director and Manager of Operations. The InterLINK Executive Director is the Chair of the AAG.
The AAG
- Advises the Executive Director on the formulation of policy and planning recommendations.
- Collectively acts as an advisory group to the Executive Director with regard to InterLINK programs and services.
